Bereavement and loss
Do you experience one or more of the following?
Difficulty sleeping
Feeling overwhelmed at times
Not able to think clearly
Feeling as if you are ‘stuck’ and can’t move forward with your life
Feeling numb and shut off from your emotions
Getting upset with seemingly small things
Feeling vulnerable
How counselling can help:
When experiencing a bereavement or loss we can often be puzzled or distressed by what is going on for us. Counselling can help you better understand what it is you are experiencing and give you more agency in responding to these experiences rather than feeling that you simply have to endure them.
Counselling can provide you with the tools and insights to help you regulate your emotional state and, in turn, help you feel as if you have more control over your life.
Counselling also provides you with the space to process your bereavement or loss, not as a means of ‘moving on’ or ‘getting over’ it, but rather to help you live a life where there is more acceptance of that which has been lost. This process also acknowledges that although the person or thing has gone from your life, the relationship you have with it can continue intact and provide you with a source of comfort.
